Spotter Guide
While many spills and accidents can require professional help to remove all contaminants, there are things you can do to help right away. Following is a general guideline for spills accidents of all kinds. If you have any concerns or fears with doing this yourself dont hesitate to call. It is always better to be safe then sorry!
ACT QUICKLY!
Most carpets on todays market have stain resistant qualities, so many spills can be removed if immediate action is taken. The longer the delay, the more chance there is that a professional will be needed or even worse a permanent stain. Even carpets that have been treated with carpet protectors are not completely stain proof, only more stain resistant.
REMOVE ANY SOLID WASTE
Depending on the circumstance, remove any "chunky bits" from affected area. You do not want to accidently make things worse by smushing something deeper into the carpet.
ALWAYS BLOT LIQUIDS!
Many a carpet has been irreversibly damaged from rubbing or scrubbing a spot or stain. Always blot with a clean white cotton towel to avoid transfering other dyes or contaminants from the towel. Work from the outer edges to the center of spills to help prevent them from spreading.
SPOT AND STAIN REMOVERS
If there is still a spot left you may wish to try a carpet spotter. CAUTION! There are many different kinds of spotters available today and not all are safe on all carpets. Some may actually make things look worse and can even cause permanent damage.
Always test any spotter in an inconspicuous area of identical carpet and let dry completey (closets are often a good test area for example). Providing there is no colour loss or change and no fiber damage you can proceed to use on the spot. Read instructions very carefully before using any spotters.
STAINS OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN
Sometimes a spot appears seemingly out of nowhere. Often these are previous spills that were thought to have been taken care. Sometimes they can be wicking up from the underlay under the carpet, other times its residue from a spotter that was used. Before reaching for the spotter again, try a solution of white vinegar and water. Mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water in a misting bottle. Lightly mist over affected area. Use a white cotton towel to blot. Repeat till you no longer see any stain transfering to the towel. Let dry fully.

If you have used us to clean the area in the last 30 days we will come out and deal with it for free! If you have had another company clean the affected area for you within the last 30 days and are willing to share their invoice info with us we will attempt to remove it for free. If neither of the above apply to you, we will still come and attempt to remove the spot or stain. A $50 service charge may then apply.
